More about the Cassie Hallmark Memorial Scholarship silent auction fundraiser:
The Cassie Hallmark Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2007 in memory of Cassandra Anne Hallmark, the daughter of Bryan and Lisa Hallmark. The Cassie Hallmark Memorial Scholarship Fund in partnership with the Durant Lions Club has the mission to assist first year Durant Public School band students going into the 9th grade from the 8th. The scholarship amount of $250.00 covers the cost of band fees/supplies for an incoming freshman. The average cost of band fees for an incoming freshman is $190.00. The remainder of the scholarship is placed into the students band account for trips/contests during their band career.
Over the past 10 years the Cassie Hallmark Memorial Scholarship Fund has assisted 34 students for a total of $8500.00.
In 2015 the Cassie Hallmark Memorial Scholarship Fund implemented the Durant High School Band Hardship Scholarship. The Hardship Scholarship is to provide assistance to students enrolled in the Durant High School Band Program with specific financial needs. This is a one-time award with the amount based on availability of funds and student need up to but not exceeding the amount of $500.00 per recipient.

All proceeds from the silent auction held during the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet will be for the sole purpose of the Cassie Hallmark Memorial Scholarship Fund for financial assistance to Durant Public School band students.
