Durant High School Introduces Student Internship Program

A message from Durant High School to Durant businesses and organizations:

What is the value of work? The obvious answer is a paycheck, but Durant High School has introduced a student internship program to help students learn that the value of work is more than just a paycheck. Student applicants will start with the basics by completing an application and developing a resume and then learn the value of career exploration, interview skills, decision making skills, interpersonal skills and ultimately technical skills that are valuable whether they choose to remain in the workforce or further their education in college or technical school.  “Our goal is to better prepare Durant High School students for a successful career” says High School Principal Cheryl Conditt. Of course the internship program needs worksites and Durant ISD encourages local businesses to seriously consider serving as an internship worksite. “We see this program as a great opportunity to partner with the business community to fortify a quality, well educated workforce” says David Sorrell Assistant Principal. We invite local businesses to contact Cheryl Conditt or David Sorrell at the High School at 580-924-4424 for more information.
